GMA unveils its first-ever advocacy series Stay With Me
GMA Network proudly unveils its first-ever advocacy
series, Stay With Me. The Afternoon Prime drama, which tackles one of
the most serious and fatal diseases in the world, brings to light the
struggles of a woman who is HIV positive and how she battles her own
frailties and demons in life. The series premiered last February 26 and
garnered a rating of 11.9% and 39.8% shares based on Nielsen Philippines
NUTAM overnight household ratings.

Yasmien Kurdi breathes life to Thea who goes to the
big city to find work and to bury a traumatic past so she can move on with
her life. She meets Marco, a charming, and happy-go-lucky guy. Despite the
disapproval of Marco’s mother, Adel, the two immediately fall in love and get
married. They promise to love and to hold each other until the day they die.
Soon, they build a family with the birth of their fraternal twins.
Things seem to have turned around for Thea until a
shocking discovery brings back the past she keeps hidden from Marco. Doctors
find out that her blood is HIV reactive. She acquired the infection years ago
when Lawrence, her best friend raped her. The secret she is keeping is
revealed and suddenly threatens her happy life.
 
To make matters worse, Adel uses Lawrence to
convince Marco that Thea has been unfaithful. Lawrence leads Marco to believe
that his wife contracted HIV because she was unfaithful. Hurt and devastated,
Marco decides to leave Thea for his ex-girlfriend, Cindy, and takes their
twins away from her. Thea finds herself alone and forsaken.
Despite falling into a deep depression and her body
beginning to display severe symptoms of her infection, Thea decides to
conquer her inner demons and reclaim her life and her family?
The series aims to raise HIV awareness and educate viewers
on its effects upon a person’s life through an intriguing drama—that even in
our weaknesses, strength can be found if we only rise and have the courage to
fight for our loved ones and ourselves.
