A Woman Scorned’s final episode reigns over weekend daytime ratings

The much anticipated final episode of GMA’s phenomenal daytime drama A Woman Scorned had the entire Philippines glued to their TV screens over the weekend. The series made history again, airing its last episode on a Saturday unlike most daytime dramas that end on a Friday. Despite the unusual schedule, the series ended on a very high note on March 17, posting a rating of 22.8% and a share of 56.3%, beating the competition’s variety program Showtime which only got a rating of 12.7% and 34.1% shares based on Nielsen Philippines NUTAM overnight household ratings.

The gripping and action-packed scenes had fans on the edge of their seats. Rome finally finds where Georgia is holding Emma. After an emotional confrontation, Emma tries to escape while Georgia accidentally shoots Rome. Emma finds a getaway car, but Georgia chases her and jumps into the moving car.

Georgia kicks Emma out in an attempt to kill her. She takes over the wheel but loses control of it, crashing the car onto a truck and catches fire. Georgia gets trapped inside the burning car. Emma tries to get near to help but the car suddenly explodes putting an end to Georgia’s life.

Finally free of Georgia’s evil schemes, Rome and Emma are able to renew their vows and are expecting their third child with much hope that things will be sweeter for them the second time around.

The final episode’s official hashtag #IANUHulingPaghaharap was among the top trending topic on Twitter with fans raving about the intense emotions and powerful performances by the cast led by Sunshine Dizon, Gabby Concepcion and Ryza Cenon. The episode’s highlights were also among the top 10 trending videos on Youtube.

Many fans were happy that the series concluded with a happy ending, while many fans expressed sadness that their favorite drama series has come to an end and that they will miss the characters, even Georgia who many viewers hate. Some fans even took selfies with their TV screens while watching the finale while many recalled their favorite scenes from the drama, most of which became viral videos on social media.

Ryza Cenon, Gabby Concepcion and Sunshine Dizon expressed their gratitude to all the viewers who helped made the series the highest rating daytime drama since it aired. Gabby Concepcion posted a video on Instagram with the cast and crew saying thank you to everyone who made the show number one.

Replacing A Woman Scorned on its Afternoon Prime slot is Contessa, another much-awaited revenge drama that has already sent social media abuzz. It stars award-winning actress Glaiza de Castro in the titular role.
