Contessa tells a riveting story of
a woman seeking justice. Bea Resureccion is engaged to marry her long-time
boyfriend, Marco. However, what should have been the happiest day of her life
turns into a terrible nightmare when Bea’s groom is shot dead at the altar on
the day of their wedding.
To make matters worse, Bea is blamed for Marco’s death
and is accused of marrying him for money. Daniela Imperial, a rich woman who
Marco had previously rejected is Bea’s main suspect. Without strong evidence
against Daniela nor the power to defend herself, Bea is ultimately made to pay
for a crime she did not commit.
In prison, Bea meets Madame Guada Venganza, a rich
widow incarcerated because of her husband’s illegal businesses. The two women
easily become friends. Guada teaches Bea how to survive life in prison.
She trains Bea to become tough and full of rage,
preparing her for the day she will be released and take revenge on those who
wrongly accused her. When Bea leaves prison, she assumes the identity of
Guada’s dead daughter, Contessa. Bea is transformed into a successful and
ruthless businesswoman. She begins her vendetta against Daniela and her family.
Contessa marks the return of GMA’s
award-winning and multi-talented actress Glaiza de Castro in the titular role.
According to Glaiza, playing Bea Resureccion and its alter ego “Contessa” is
her most challenging and intense role to date. She was last seen as the
vengeful Pirena in the highly acclaimed series Encantadia in 2016.
Contessa’s first episode received a warm welcome from viewers. Its hashtag
“#Contessa” also made it to the top spot in Twitter’s trending board with
netizens raving about Glaiza’s powerful performance and the exciting twists in
the story.
In an
interview, Glaiza compared her experience in Encantadia and Contessa.
“I thought playing “Pirena” was the hardest because there were a lot of fight
scenes as well as emotional ones. But as “Contessa”, there is more drama and
more action which makes me feel more excited about it,” the actress said.

Glaiza also expressed her gratitude to her home
network, GMA for entrusting her with the project. “I feel honored. The role
itself is challenging and the responsibility is quite big. This is the show for
people who are experiencing anxiety, depression, pain and for people to know
that they are never alone to face their problems,” the actress said.
